Clothing brand M1LE London aims to support mental health through cycling

Commuter-focussed clothing brand M1LE London is kicking off the new year supporting mental health charity The New Normal.

The charity works through peer-to-peer support meetings, connecting people who want a safe space to discuss their grief and mental health.

It offers a free alternative to one-on-one therapy with the belief no-one should ever feel isolated, and there is always someone who will relate to your story. As the charity puts it, ‘if there’s one, there’s two.’

M1LE has launched ‘The M1LE High Club’ on Strava, and it’s encouraging users to log their miles with the club in January.

Throughout the month, M1LE will be featuring stories from commuters around the world about the impact exercise has had on their mental health and wellbeing as the campaign officially starts on Tuesday 4th January 2022.

100% of all profits from their sales made in January will be donated to The New Normal, and people can individually donate through the dedicated JustGiving page.

The fundraising drive will culminate on Sunday 30 January 2022 with a virtual group ride – meaning participants are invited to log a ride on the day specifically – on Strava.

Afterwards, Benjamin May from The New Normal will host an Instagram Live Q&A on exercise, mental health and wellbeing with Nick Frendo of Ascnd.cc.

The New Normal wants to change the way we discuss such aspects in open and honest spaces.

Throughout the year, I’ll be writing more articles on cycling and mental health to contribute to a safe environment for others to share their own experiences.
