Pathum Nissanka completed a half-century, but Sri Lanka added only eight to their overnight score, as Kemar Roach took the two remaining wickets – including that of Nissanka – in the fourth over of day four. This meant the visitors gave up a 96-run first-innings lead, having been dismissed for 258 inside 107 overs.
Having begun on 49, Nissanka got to fifty off the third ball, when he drove Shannon Gabriel to sweeper cover. Lasith Embuldeniya – Nissanka’s overnight partner – hit the only boundary of Sri Lanka’s brief morning stay, when he squirted Roach past a diving gully in Roach’s first over of the morning.
Roach bounced Nissanka out in his next over, having him caught at deep square leg after frustrating him a couple of times with the short ball. Vishwa Fernando, the No. 11, nicked off two balls later.
Roach’s two morning wickets gave him the innings’ best analysis of 3 for 58. Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph had two wickets apiece for the innings.
