KOCHI: Former Kerala player Sambasiva Sharma can continue to take part in KCA apex council meetings as long as the matters discussed are not related to issues involved in the writ petitions he had filed against the state associations before he became an apex council member.
Sharma had challenged through a petition in the high court the KCA ombudsman-cum-ethics officer’s order which had restrained him from participating in apex council meetings. The ombudsman observed that Sharma, an Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) representative, cannot sit as a member of the apex council while going ahead with the writ petitions he had filed against KCA.
The Kerala High Court on Thursday issued an order saying “the order passed by the Ombudsman, that the petitioner shall not continue as a member of the apex council till the disposal of the Writ Petition, requires interference. The court also observed that “the petitioner shall be disassociated in any of the meetings which considers matters relating to the issues involved in the Writ Petitions.”
