Royal Challengers Bangalore insist they’re “not too worried” despite $2.6 million man Kyle Jamieson’s “dreadful” display for New Zealand against Australia.

RCB splashed some insane cash on Jamieson at the IPL auction last month after some eye-catching performances for the Black Caps at Test level.

However the 26-year-old was an abject failure in New Zealand’s T20 series win over Australia, which wrapped up on Sunday.

Jamieson bowled 15 overs across the first four games of the series, returning the dismal figures of 1-175 at an economy rate of 11.66.

He was then left out of the fifth and deciding game on Sunday as the Kiwis claimed a 3-2 series victory.

RCB would have been keen to see what Jamieson could do with the white ball against Australia, however his performance will raise some serious concerns about whether or not they invested their money wisely.

Despite the horror showing, RCB director and former New Zealand Test coach Mike Hesson insisted he wasn’t too concerned.

“He’s struggled, probably for the first time in international cricket really, which I don’t think is a bad thing,” Hesson told Sky Sports

“He’s battled to find his lengths, which when you’re put under pressure, that can happen. And pressure not only from the opposition but also the weight of expectations.

“For Kyle, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. He’s a smart enough cricketer, surrounded by good people, and he’ll come out of the other side.

“When you look at a player, you don’t look at a player just over a very short period of time. You look at the characteristics that he’s got.

“He’s got some good fighting qualities. He struggled, he didn’t find his lengths, he looked like he lost his run-up.

“We know he’s a very good player and although we would like him to be performing better, we’re not too worried just yet.”

Ironically, Australian captain Aaron Finch was the main source of punishment for Jamieson after RCB cut Finch for the 2021 season.

“Kyle Jamieson has caught the biggest case of bowling yips I’ve ever seen,” AAP sports journalist Ed Jackson tweeted during the fourth game of the season.

“He’s been as dreadful this series as he was deadly in the Tests earlier this summer.”

Kiws thump Australia in T20 series decider

Australia fell at the final hurdle in their T20 tour of New Zealand on Sunday, losing the series decider by seven wickets.

Master blaster Martin Guptill powered the Black Caps past Australia’s 8-142, which looked short of a competitive total.

Guptill smashed three sixes off one Adam Zampa over – including one onto the roof of the ‘The Cake Tin’ – on his way to a thumping 71.

His innings helped New Zealand chase down Australia’s innings with 27 balls to spare, handing Finch’s touring side a 3-2 series defeat.

“We weren’t aggressive enough with the bat … we didn’t get enough runs,” Finch said.

“We kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

“A couple of us put a fair bit of time into our innings – 20, 30, 40 balls – to not go on with that, it was probably the difference in the game.”
