Winless and eighth placed Lincoln batted first at Darfield Domain against a home side who were looking for a win to lock themselves into third place.
Country Rep all-rounder Joe Williams set a nice platform for the Lincoln side with a run a ball 50.
Arthur Paterson batting at number 3 scored a well compiled 74 to lift Lincoln to a competitive total of 251 off their allotted 45 overs.
In reply, Darfield were in trouble early thanks to some great new-ball bowling from Hugh Paterson and Taylor Holland. Alister Collins was the only Darfield batsmen to get under way, but when he was dismissed for 60 all of Darfield’s hopes faded with him. Darfield were eventually bundled out for 210 handing Lincoln their first 1-day competition win of the season.
At Southbrook Park, the ninth placed home side was hopeful of an upset win against second placed Sefton.
Southbrook won the toss and batted first which meant Canterbury batsman Jack Boyle was given the opportunity to score some more club runs for the Brook.
Boyle knocked up an impressive 116 off 132 balls to lift Southbrook up to a total of 231. Boyle was supported well by youngster Gus Mowat, Mowat scored 52 off 45 balls towards the end of the Brooks innings.
In reply, Sefton never got underway thanks to an outstanding new ball spell by fringe Canterbury Country rep Luan Blom. Blom removed the inform duo of Mackenzie Smith and Chris Warner early in Sefton’s innings.
A fighting knock from Lance Taylor brought Sefton back into the match. Ex-Blackcap Shanan Stewart came on and cleaned up the Sefton middle and lower order, claiming three scalps to help reduce Sefton to 177 all out.
At Mandeville Sports Ground, Weedons were needing to trounce the home side to give themselves a chance of making the semi-finals on net run rate.
Ohoka batted first and posted a big total 265/2 off their allotted overs thanks largely to a captain’s knock from Daniel Lyons. Lyons compiled 118 off 136 balls and he was well supported by Canterbury Country rep ‘keeper-batsman Will Hamilton with 98 off 101 balls.
In reply, Weedons started brightly with their opening batsman and talisman Todd Inness scoring 76 off 87 balls.
But the Weedons middle order couldn’t create any substantial partnerships through the middle overs which eventually meant they were bowled out for 211 in the 42nd over, ending their semi-final hopes.
At Cheviot Doman, the home side beat Oxford-Rangiora in a dead rubber while Leeston-Southbridge had the bye.
The final points tally means a North Canterbury derby in one semi and a Selwyn derby in the other.
Leeston-Southbridge who qualified top of the table will play Darfield at Leeston Park while second placed Sefton will host Ohoka at Sefton Domain.
