LUCKNOW: A 16-year-old boy died after he was hit with a cricket bat following a dispute during a cricket match in Unnao on Thursday.
Police said the 14-yearold accused was declared out, but refused to leave the pitch. This led to an exchange of blows with the victim during which the accused attacked him with the bat, hitting on his neck, which resulted in his death.
Circle officer, City, Kripa Shankar said that the cricket match was played at Salehnagar on March 31. During the match, the accused was out leg before wicket (LBW).
The deceased, who was standing beside the umpire, said it was clear out.
“The duo entered into a verbal spat and the victim slapped the accused. The batsman got annoyed and hit the 16-year-old with the bat on his neck and fled,” said Shankar.
