Australia bowler Pat Cummins buys $9.5 million Sydney home, real estate property

Future Australian Test cricket captain Pat Cummins has splashed out almost $10 million on a revived Victorian manor home in Sydney’s east.

Figtree House, described as the “grand dame” of Chesterfield Parade in the beachside suburb of Bronte, was listed with a guide of $7.9 million but was snapped up by the fast bowling ace for around $9.5 million, according to Domain.

Cummins is one of the highest-paid cricketers in Australia after becoming the world’s number one Test bowler while also starring in the shorter forms of the game.

He signed a then-record $3.2 million contract in the Indian Premier League last year and appears to have put his new-found riches towards creating a family home with fiancee Becky Boston.

Their new abode features five large bedrooms plus a second-floor retreat. There are views of the ocean but there’s also a backyard swimming pool.

Cummins takes hold of the property from Anthony and Nikki Moustacas, the owners of Double Bay’s Indigo Cafe. It’s one of a series of eye-popping purchases in Sydney’s east in recent months, which PPD Real Estate’s Alexander Phillips told Domain were largely being made by locals.

“There are a few expats in the mix of buyers, but overall it’s mainly locals driving the demand because they get it,” Mr Phillips said. “They appreciate the tight sense of community and village atmosphere that each of these suburbs has nowadays.”

The 27-year-old first entered the market when he purchased a Clovelly apartment for $1.36 million in 2013.

Cummins also owns a cottage in Moss Vale in NSW’s Southern Highlands.
