Callum Hemming and Steven Stallwood claimed their first Super 750 victory as six English pairings saw action at the YONEX French Open.
Hemming and Stallwood continued their excellent season with victory over Dutch duo Ruben Jille and Ties Van Der Lecq in Paris.
They got off to a flying start by winning the first four points of the match and wrapped up the opening rubber 21-13.
Their opponents, ranked 52nd in the world, rallied and came back from 8-3 down in the second game to make it 16-16.
But Hemming and Stallwood had enough and took a frenetic second game 24-22, wrapping up victory in 32 minutes.
The English players met their match in the shape of Malaysia’s Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi, seeded seventh, who beat them 21-8 21-8 in the second round.
Also in the men’s doubles, Ben Lane and Sean Vendy won their first round match over Jeppe Bay and Lasse Molhede by walkover.
Their campaign ended in the second round with 21-12 21-17 defeat to Japanese eighth seeds Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi.

They lost out in an hour-long last eight tussle with Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida, going down 21-14 18-21 21-10.
England’s second pairing in the women’s doubles was Jess Hopton and Jess Pugh, who competed well in an eventual 23-21 21-10 loss to Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan.
Alongside Marcus Ellis in the mixed doubles, Smith engineered a 21-18 21-18 victory over familiar German foes Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Lohau.

Also in the mixed doubles draw, Hemming and Pugh rallied late on but saw their challenge end with a 21-12 23-21 loss to Thailand’s Supak Jomkoh and Supissara Paewsampran.
