Erriyon Knighton (born January 29, 2004), representing the United States, ran a new U18 World Best at 200 meters on Monday in Florida. The tailwind blew 1.6 meters per second during the run. Knighton’s record before Monday was at 20.30 in early May.
The previous World Best result for the age group was Usain Bolt’s 20.13 (2003). Bolt, who achieved six personal Olympic golds and seven personal World Championship golds, holds the WR results 9.58 and 19.19 adults in the 100 and 200 runs.
Knighton’s record at 100 meters is 10.16.
