Oslo hosts a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event on Thursday the 30th of June 2022. The event known by the name Boysen Memorial is competed in the legendary Bislett stadium in Oslo, Norway.

The event memorizes the late Norwegian mid distance runner Audun Boysen (1929-2000). He was a 15-time Norwegian champion in 400 m, 800 m and 1500 m and a multiple national record holder. He also set the 1000 m WR three times.

The event in Oslo begins at 16:30 local time with women’s 100 m heats. The last discpiline of the almost five-hour-long evening of athletics is the men’s 5000 m. The A- and B-heats of the 5k start at 20:50 and 21:10.

Boysen Memorial 2022 Oslo – Prize money

The prizes in Continental Tour Bronze level competitions are handed out to five best athletes of each discpiline. The winner of an A-category discpiline receives 1000 euros whereas the winner of a B-category event is awarded with 500 euros.

A category disciplines in the Boysen Memorial are the women´s 800 m and 400 m hurdles as well as men´s 800 m and hammer throw. The rest of the disciplines of the event belong to category B.

An extra prize (Boysen Prize) of 10 000 NOK (roughly 1000 EUR) is given to a runner who beats Audun Boysen’s 800 m record of 1.45,90. In the women’s 800 m the Boysen Prize is given to a runner who runs faster than 2.01,00. Only one runner per gender each year can receive the Boysen Prize.
