RECORDS CCSU (5-28, 1-9 NEC) Wagner (10-19, 3-3 NEC)
KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils got into some scary territory to start out game one. The Seahawks loaded up the bases in the bottom of the first with a walk and two singles. CCSU’s defense saved the day, however, getting an out at the plate on the next at bat and forcing a clean double play on the one after that.
- Neither team got farther than second base over the next three innings as both pitchers battled away at the lineup.
- Whittaker again faced a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the fifth inning, and again got out of the jam without any damage done.
- Matison Piripavel got the eighth inning underway with a leadoff double. Hannah French, pinch running for the Piripavel, reached third on a sacrifice bunt from Katie Master, but the Seahawks kept the Blue Devils off the board.
- Meg Gorman got on board in the top of the ninth inning with a single. She went on to steal second, but was caught stealing at third.
- Master was placed on second to start extras and was advanced by Kim Howard who hit a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher. Bri Walker drew a walk after this to get on base. The Blue Devils loaded up the bases after this, but Master was out at home plate.
- It only took two batters for the Seahawks to take the game from the Blue Devils. They used two straight sacrifice flys to bring in the runner from second.
NOTES
- Whittaker struck out five Seahawks over 9.2 innings pitched.
