West Ham targeting six new signings following Aguerd arrival

Following the arrival of Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd over the weekend, it has emerged that David Moyes is targeting as many as six new signings for the new upcoming season.

The Hammers enjoyed a strong season but ultimately fell short in their ambitions, reaching the semi-final of the Europa League and ending the season in 7th place and a spot in next season’s Europa Conference League.

And, with the seeming strengthening of Aston Villa, Newcastle and other sides in the top flight, Moyes clearly feels as though he needs additions to his own squad in order to compete across multiple fronts once again.

Having already added Aguerd in a £30m deal, the Hammers boss is keen to add Alphonse Areola on a permanent deal after his loan spell from Paris Saint Germain last campaign. They are thought to be increasingly confident that that particular deal can be struck.

Broja in the works?

Meanwhile, a deal for Armando Broja is thought to be in the works, with West Ham desperate to find suitable cover for the ageing Michail Antonio, and a £30m bid ready to be sent to Chelsea for their young striker, who spent last season on loan with Southampton.

There is also interest in Jesse Lingard, now a free agent, though it is unclear just how reciprocated that is, while another central midfielder has also been mooted amid speculation surrounding the future of Tomas Soucek.
