Four matches were originally planned for this past round, with the Murdoch University Melville versus Perth SC match ultimately postponed.

Hyundai NTC 2-2 Fremantle City

Fremantle City came from 2-0 down to earn a point on Friday night and E&D Litis Stadium.

It was a result that was exceptionally harsh WA’s talented NTC side who dominated the match from start to finish.

The teenagers had built a 2-0 lead with just 24 minutes played thanks to goals from the lively Tanika Lala and Olivia Trueman.

The NTC looked comfortable on the ball all night, looking to create intricate passing moves at high speed. Ball skills and vision at such a young age from the likes of Georgia Cassidy and Sophie Meaden additionally mark this team out as one of promise.

They created a number of chances to add to their lead in the second half. Lala turned under huge pressure from two defenders to get a rocket of a shot away which narrowly went over the bar.

Fremantle got one back nine minutes after the re-start. Mikayla Lyons’ free-kick on the right was initially headed clear, but Janice Kiama was able to pounce and put the ball into the net.

The NTC responded well with Trueman, Lala, and Cassidy all creating and coming close.

However, with a minute of regulation time remaining, Fremantle grabbed a leveller. Jamie-Lee Gale’s ball out to Lyons who looped an effort in.

There was still a chance for NTC when they were awarded a free-kick just outside the box. Cassidy’s set-piece curled towards the top right hand corner, but despite a heavy collision, Freo keeper Dayle Schroeder claimed the ball.

Balcatta Etna 0-3 Perth RedStar

Perth RedStar produced another ruthless performance to earn their sixth win from six games this season.

The visitors hit the front with seven minutes played. Shawn Bilham played the ball in from the left and Larissa Walsh headed across for Jayna Ridley to hit a shot into the far corner of the net.

Mia Yeo and Monique Prinsloo were creating the best chances for the home side throughout the match. Yeo is a continual threat on the left hand side with her pace and quality ball skills, but the final product was not quite as high as was necessary to trouble Maya Diederichsen in the RedStar goal.

The visitors doubled their lead with 25 minutes played. Sarah Carroll played a lovely no-look inside pass for Olivia Wood to lift over Dal Busco and into the net.

The second half was a similar story, and the visitors completed the scoring in the final 10 minutes with Sarah Carroll once more involved. The Perth Glory A-League Women defender got free down the right and crossed for Walsh to hit home her 10th goal in six matches this season.

RedStar are now seven points clear of closest rivals Fremantle City. Third placed Perth SC have a game in hand on the leaders.

Subiaco 4-4 Curtin University

There was high drama at Rosalie Park as Curtin University scored two goals in the final ten minutes to come from 4-2 down to grab a point deep into stoppage time.

The visitors took the lead with just two minutes on the clock as Curtin picked up possession in midfield and drove forward. Zara Board tried to save the original shot but the ball squirmed free for Dakota Van-Vugt to finish.

Subi levelled on 20 minutes when Stephanie Waycott deflected Toni Walden’s corner from the right into her own net. However, the lead lasted just eight minutes. Suria Varatharaja played a long ball forward which the home side failed to clear and the visitors nipped in to score.

Just before the break, the home side got back on level terms when Ingrid Gomez Basallo turned and fired home. Subiaco looked to have built a decisive second half lead when, first, just after the break, Frankie Murray played in Ashlee Byrne to score. Then, with only eight minutes remaining, Murray put the hosts 4-2 ahead.

There then followed a delay due to a floodlighting issue. Within a minute of the re-start, Van-Vugt grabbed Curtin a lifeline. Then, three minutes into stoppage time at the end of the 90, Taylor Reid completed a sensational comeback with a late goal to seal her team’s first point of the season.

The round’s other scheduled match between Murdoch University Melville and Perth SC was postponed.
