Elite cyclist Ed Laverack from Wales took the coveted Sa Calobra Strava KOM in 24:36 minutes, breaking the previous by 18 seconds.
The 2019 British Hill Climb champion averaged 23.0km/h up the 9.4km climb, which averages a 7 percent gradient.
Laverack’s Strava file showed he averaged 378W and a heart rate of 175bpm during his climb, which took place in April.
Sa Calobra is an iconic climb in Mallorca, and one of the most competitive Strava segments in the world. Cyclists come from all around the world to try their luck and it’s a regular winter testing ground for WorldTour pro cyclists.
The previous record of 24:54 minutes was held by Astana Qazaqstan rider Sebastian Henao since January 2016.
2018 Vuelta a España champion Simon Yates has the fifth-fastest time, whilst former pros David Lopez and Ian Boswell come in third and fourth respectively.
