Arsenal and Chelsea could pick up a top Bundesliga star for a fairly low fee this summer, according to reports.
Said player is Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach. Thuram joined Gladbach in 2019, departing his home country of France, and has since impressed on a regular basis in Germany.
The 24-year-old has made 101 appearances for Gladbach, scoring 28 and assisting 22 in the process.
And whilst Thuram is a natural left-winger, he is more than capable of operating as a natural centre-forward, making him a valuable asset for any side.
The winger’s ability to operate both centrally and on the flank even saw former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger compare the Gladbach star to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry:
“Thierry Henry had the timing of the smartest footballers. He was also very strong physically, and technically he could do everything,” Wenger told Der Spiegel last year. “In fact, there’s a player in the Bundesliga who reminds me of him – Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach.”

Thuram to the Premier League?
Now, much like Henry, Thuram could be on his way to the Premier League.
As per football.london citing The Athletic, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all held an interest in the Frenchman at some stage in recent transfer windows, and with his contract running down, he may finally be permitted to move on in the coming months.
Thuram is approaching the final 12 months of his contract. As a result, Gladbach will try to sell him in the next window for a fee of £10-15m, rather than lose him on a free transfer in 2023.
Given his versatility, Thuram will likely make a great addition to any of the three London-based sides.
