Central Connecticut State softball dropped both games of its Thursday doubleheader to Holy Cross. The Blue Devils had a lead in the top of the sixth inning but the Crusaders ultimately came back to win.

KEY MOMENTS
- Kari Marks was put in a tough bases loaded situation in the bottom of the first, but forced two quick outs on an infield fly and a lineout.
- Holy Cross again loaded the bases in the bottom of the second after a leadoff double started things off again. The Blue Devils got out of the jam with only one run getting across by way of a sacrifice fly.
- Brooke Fedison got the top of the third started by getting on base after being hit by a pitch. Hannah French, who was put in to pinch run for Fedison, stole second, but the Blue Devils could not advance her further.
- The Blue Devils had two outs down in the bottom of the third, but Holy Cross rallied to load up the bases for the third straight inning. Again, though, they were only able to get a single run across on a single.
- Holy Cross loaded up the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning. A walk brought in one run and a sacrifice fly scored another, making it a 4-0 Holy Cross lead.
- A leadoff single led to another score for Holy Cross after a double brought the runner home.
- Alex Rodgers got the Blue Devils’ lone hit of the game in the top of the sixth inning with a single.
- Holy Cross got its last run of the game across on a double in the bottom of the sixth.

KEY MOMENTS
- Holy Cross struck out the side to start things off in game two, but Ashley Antonazzo also breezed through the first in 1-2-3 fashion.
- Holy Cross got the first hit of the game in the second inning but did not get much farther than that.
- Alex Rodgers got her second hit of the day on another single in the top of the third inning.
- After some quick innings by both pitchers, Brooke Fedison got the top of the sixth inning going with a single out to right field. Meg Dugas smacked a double to right field that scored Fedison and gave CCSU its first lead of the day.
- After a single led off the bottom of the sixth, an error from the Blue Devil defense got another runner aboard, a wild patch advanced them both into scoring position, and a walk loaded up the bases. The Blue Devils had another fielding error after this that let up two runs, and another error after this brought a third run home. A few more hits ended things at five runs scored in the sixth for Holy Cross, quickly erasing CCSU’s lead.
- Kim Howard got a two out single in the top of the seventh to keep CCSU alive, but the Blue Devils ultimately fell to Holy Cross 5-1.
