RANGERS are speaking to the authorities in a bid to help them accommodate their Europa League semi-final tie – but RB Leipzig WON’T be.
SunSport understands that the German giants are content to stick with an onerous schedule of matches which sees them face a Monday evening clash with Borussia Moenchengladbach prior to visiting Glasgow.
They face a home Saturday Bundesliga clash with Union Berlin on the Saturday before the first match.
That’s 24 hours before Rangers are in action against Motherwell.
We told you yesterday how former Celtic star Andreas Hinkel had a key role as Domenico Tedesco’s number two – with the Germans set to be without three top team players for the first leg due to suspension.
While details have yet to become clear, the Gers have opened a dialogue with SPFL bosses with a view to giving them the best chance of progressing through those ties.
The Ibrox men take on Celtic at Parkhead between the two ties.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Hampden semi with Celtic, the Dutchman said: “I think they are having talks now.
“Obviously we have more games in the latter stage of the season.
“You see in other countries that other games are moved to different dates and kick-off times were changed.
“So I think we just want to do the best for Scotland.
“That’s why we are still involved in Europe and getting a lot of [coefficient] points for everyone.
“Hopefully the Scottish FA helps us to perform as well as possible in Europe but give us enough time to rest for games we have to play in Scotland.”
Tavernier added: “Thursday was a great result, we have a great medical department here who have been getting us into the best shape for tomorrow.
“We can request games to be moved but obviously it comes down to the league.”
