In a trade with the Washington Mystics, the Atlanta Dream landed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft. The Mystics received the Dream’s 2022 No. 3 overall pick and 2022 No. 14 pick (second round). In addition, Washington has the right to swap its 2023 first-round pick with the 2023 first-round pick Atlanta acquired from Los Angeles earlier this year (a trade that included guard Erica Wheeler).
The Dream now has the No. 1 pick and the first pick of the second round (No. 15). This is the second time in franchise history that Atlanta has the first pick, following 2009, when the team drafted Angel McCoughtry as No. 1.
The draft is set for Monday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. ET and broadcasted on ESPN.
