Local bragging rights are again on the line on Sunday when Manchester United take on Manchester City in the fifth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
It is just a fortnight since the two sides last met in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, on that occasion it was the blue side of Manchester which emerged with a 1-0 win thanks to a late Caroline Weir goal at The Academy Stadium.
Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner continues to juggle his squad against a number of injuries. Long term absentees Millie Turner and Lucy Staniforth remain sidelined with their respective injuries while new signing Jade Moore is not yet match-fit. Aoife Mannion and Hayley Ladd could face late fitness tests with both players doubtful.
Manchester City’s well-documented injury crisis has improved since the turn of the year but Karen Bardsley, Karima Benameur Taieb, Esme Morgan and Chloe Kelly all remain sidelined. Captain Steph Houghton will be out for an extended period with an Achilles problem.
The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie between Manchester United and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets for home supporters remain on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
