UFC middleweight contender Jack Hermansson issued a statement in the form of a poem following his main event loss at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 47.
Hermansson fought a hard 25 minutes against Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC Vegas 47, but ultimately lost a split decision on the judges’ scorecards following the five rounds. It was a competitive fight, but Strickland appeared to have the upper hand in terms of the significant strikes landed, and thus he won the decision. For Hermansson, it’s a tough loss given he was coming off of an amazing win over Edmen Shahbazyan in his last fight. Still, he’ll remain ranked in the top-10 due to his body of work at middleweight.
Taking to his social media following his split decision loss to Strickland at UFC Vegas 47, Hermansson shared a poem that he wrote following his latest loss. Take a look at what “The Joker” posted below.
“I’m sorry fans, about tonight. I had a bad performance, and I lost the fight. It wasn’t pretty, or technically sound. I couldn’t get the bastard to the ground. Sorry Sean this one went to a decision. Best of luck to murder your next competition,” Hermansson wrote on his Instagram.
Clearly, Hermansson isn’t thrilled that he lost the fight, but at the same time, it was a tough matchup for him given the styles on display here. For “The Joker,” he should still be in line to fight someone in the top-15 in his next fight as he’s still a ranked opponent. Then again, with this latest loss, Hermansson is now 2-3 in his last five fights overall, and at this point, he is more of a gatekeeper at 185lbs rather than a contender.
What do you think is next for Jack Hermansson after losing to Sean Strickland at UFC Vegas 47?
