An insight into the stance of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo when it comes to the renewal of his contract at the Camp Nou has been provided on Saturday evening.
The info comes courtesy of Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, and spells altogether positive news for those hopeful of seeing the Uruguayan stay put.
Speaking on his official Twitch channel, Romero was quick to assure that, despite the delay in putting pen to paper on fresh terms in Catalunya, Araujo sees his future in Barcelona colours.
The stopper, who has proven a rare source of consistency amid an otherwise hit-and-miss campaign at the Camp Nou to date, is understood to have been left frustrated with a member of his entourage, owing to details of his situation being leaked to the press of late.
This comes amid suggestions that the likes of Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen on his signature.
Araujo, for his part, though, remains fully committed to Xavi’s project, and ‘wants to’ renew his Blaugrana deal.

‘Want to extend’
The latest word on Araujo’s future of course comes just hours on from manager Xavi Hernandez reiterating the stance of all in a position of power at Barcelona that the renewal of the 22-year-old’s contract remains a ‘priority’.
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s crunch La Liga showdown with Atletico Madrid on Sunday, the Blaugrana’s boss assured that Araujo remains an integral figure across both the dressing room and club as a whole, with the Catalans, in turn, eager to work out a solution ‘as soon as possible’:
