The transfer window slammed shut at 11pm on Monday evening this week and that is that until the summer.
The winter window is never going to be an easy one to do deals in, but I am adamant that Thomas Tuchel would have at least liked to have seen a new wing back arrive at the club.
Chelsea spent the entire window trying to recall Emerson Palmieri, a player who they decided to loan out in the summer with an option for his loan club to buy him as well.
It would be amazing if you guys subscribed for my project over at Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, where we are putting out so much Chelsea content including DAILY Newsletters, exclusive news, breaking news, Podcasts, interviews, inside information, and bringing in some massive guests!
However, they failed to get this done with Lyon rejecting three offers of compensation, and Emerson stayed where he was. So, up step Kenedy?
Well, if Tuchel is going to want to play in his preferred three at the back formation, the same one he has largely been using the whole year he has been here so far, then Kenedy will be his only other real option to Marcos Alonso to play as a wing back on the left.
With rotation and fatigue, I expect Kenedy to get some decent game time here at Chelsea and to be honest, he might even see some minutes on the wing as well.
Tuchel is currently switching between a back four and a back three, but this is largely forced due to being without key elements of his back three formation, Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
With Chelsea recalling Kenedy, I am sure that he will be expecting/hoping to get some chances to play, and one might even come as soon as this Saturday in the FA Cup against Plymouth.
Can he salvage his last chance of a career at Chelsea? Well, stranger things have happened.
