UFC Vegas 45 features a highly-anticipated heavyweight matchup between top contenders Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus, who are vying for a title shot.
Lewis is coming off his disappointing loss to Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at UFC 265. He was overwhelmed on the feet and would lose via TKO in the closing seconds of the third round. Before that, Lewis had earned four wins in a row including knockouts over Curtis Blaydes and Alexey Oleynik.
This will easily be the toughest test of Daukaus’ career and earned a main event slot following five-straight victories. He most recently dominated the veteran Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266 with a vicious knockout finish.
The co-main event includes a battle of top welterweight contenders Stephen Thompson and Belal Muhammad. The winner could inject themselves into the welterweight title conversation.
Former bantamweight title challenger Raquel Pennington faces Macy Chiasson in a featherweight matchup, and rising lightweight contender faces a tough test against the surging Mateusz Gamrot.
