In the first “free” election of the athletes ‘committee of the Hungarian Olympic Committee Eva Csernovicki was elected among five new members. The previous board, led by Andrea Sinkó, resigned after four years.
The establishment of a new committee, which is also novel in the way it is elected, in accordance with the new statutes of the MOB, which came into force on September 1, became timely after the Tokyo Olympics in line with the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee. According to this, six of the members of the new committee of ten will be chosen by the competitors (one based on the Beijing Winter Olympics), and four will be delegated by the presidency of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (one after the Beijing Winter Olympics).
Competitors who participated in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics were eligible to vote. The mandate is for three years due to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics.
Éva Csernoviczki won 11 consecutive European medals and was is European Senior Champion in 2013 and 2014. She took the U23 European titles in 2003, 2006 and 2008. The Hungarian won world bronze in 2011. She was coached by her father Csaba. She won bronze at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and finished 7th at the Rio Olympic Games. She stranded as ninth at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021. She captured the gold medals at Grand Prix events in Abu Dhabi, Miami and Budapest. She claimed 17 IJF World Tour medals.
