Santi Cazorla believes that Xavi Hernandez is the ideal coach for Barcelona, following Ronald Koeman‘s dismissal on Wednesday night after the team’s 1-0 defeat away at Rayo Vallecano.
The former Arsenal playmaker is plying his trade at Al Sadd, who he joined back in 2020 to play under former teammate and current coach, Xavi.
“I am aware that after Koeman‘s departure there is speculation about Xavi‘s [potential] arrival at Barcelona,” Cazorla told Radio MARCA.
“I am calm and I see that he is [calm] too. This rumour of whether he goes to Barcelona or not has been going on for a while and what is clear is that he is prepared and that I wish him the best.
“Since day one, Xavi has clear ideas, a complete Barcelona style of play. Xavi is obsessed with possession, but not the formation. He can change it according to the opponent. If he leaves, we will see what direction the club takes and what happens to my future.
“[Xavi] made Al Sadd take a chance on me and sign me. It is an added motivation that he coached me, he was a benchmark as a footballer and now as a coach.”
