After a red-hot start to the season, the UNC men’s golf team broke into the top 10 of all three current polls on Monday–sitting at No. 10 in the country.
The Tar Heels were ranked No. 10 by Golfstat, Golfweek and the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches’ Poll after winning the tournament title at The Prestige on Feb. 17 and taking second place at Pinehurst No. 2 last week in the Wake Forest Invitational.
Raleigh native Peter Fountain–a UNC freshman–earned the No. 17 individual ranking after beginning his college career with a pair of second-place finishes through three events.
UNC heads to Myrtle Beach this weekend, where it will begin play in the General Hackler Championship on Sunday. The Tar Heels won this event by 13 strokes last season.
