Dr. Martin Poiger was unanimously elected for a further three years at the general assembly of the Austrian Judo Association in Eugendorf (Salzburg). The 44-year-old from Burgenland succeeded in October 2019 Dr. Hans Paul Kutschera.
Sabrina Filzmoser is now one of a total of five Vice Presidents. Magdalena Krssakova is the new athlete spokesperson – she has voting rights. Albert Gmeiner as Vice President, Horst Felzl, Thomas Stückler as Technical Director and Deputy Karin Dorfinger are also new to the Management Board.
“Fortunately, our balance sheet over the past two years since I took over the office of President speaks for itself. For the first time since 1984 we have won two Olympic medals, and for the first time since 2010 we won a World Championship medal. The installation of a Judo Austria national sports base in Linz and the commitment of Yvonne Bönisch are already bearing fruits. I am delighted that Yvonne is making headlines not only because she is the first female judo head coach in the world, but also because we are as successful as we have been in a long time. In any case, the successes are no coincidence: She relies on teamwork, a good mood and hard work on and off the mat. Our national team judoka are enthusiastic about the cooperation across the board. And at the association too, we want to take this momentum with us: hard work, teamwork, competence. This is what we want to stand for as an association! “
