Newcastle United: Duncan Castles discusses managerial hunt

[ad_1]

Duncan Castles has been speaking on The Transfer Window podcast about Newcastle United’s search for a new manager.

In what was one of football’s worst-kept secrets, Steve Bruce was sacked on Wednesday morning, and following that announcement, Paulo Fonseca has become hotly tipped to replace Bruce, with the former Roma boss set for talks with the Magpies.

Should Fonseca replace Bruce?

Yes!

No!

No!

The search for Newcastle’s next boss may speed up and intensify with all members of the consortium in the UK together having attended the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, and Castles reveals what role PCP Capital Partners and PIF have in terms of finding a new manager.

He said: “What I’m being told about this process is it’s very detailed, it’s very analytical. This consortium – Saudi Public Investment Fund-led consortium – [are] very conscious that they want to get this managerial appointment right, and are using kind of an unusual process in that PCP Capital have a management contract to run the club, that’s Amanda Staveley’s company – they are the people on the ground.

“They are being asked to put recommendations in as to changes, as to candidates to be the next manager. Their proposal then goes to PIF, and PIF analyse it and decide whether they’re going to sign off on it.

“There is also the possibility that PIF will come up with their own candidates and go back to PCP and say this is the way to go, but the line that’s being emphasised to me is that we do not want to rush this decision.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s managerial search…

Reports have been circulating that the new owners now have a shortlist of the managers they are considering handing the reins to at St. James’ Park, which is thought to include Fonseca, Lucien Favre and Eddie Howe.

Whoever the new manager will be at Newcastle, they need to come in and make an instant impact, as the situation the Magpies find themselves in is very precarious, so they will have very little time to get their ideas across and turn results around.
