This is the Swim Poll of the Week for Friday, October 15, 2021, sponsored by Strechcordz Swim Training Products. In our last poll, we wanted to know: Who was the most impressive female swimmer during the ISL regular season?
The options in this poll were Energy Standard teammates Siobhan Haughey and Sarah Sjostrom, the Cali Condors’ Beata Nelson and New York Breakers’ Abbie Wood. Haughey scored 10 individual victories during Energy’s four ISL matches during the stretch of competition in Naples. Four of those victories came in the 200 freestyle, and three each were in the 100 free and 400 free. Sjostrom, meanwhile, left Naples to return to Sweden and continue her training and recovery from a fractured elbow earlier this year, but she changed her mind and returned without missing any meets. Sjostrom ended up with nine victories, three in the 50 free, four in the 5o butterfly and two in 50 free skins.
Nelson was the Condors’ top female performer, and she scored three victories in the 200 back (and the lone loss was a close second-place finish), four victories in the 100 IM and a win in 50 back skins in Match #2. Finally, Wood was one of the impressive IMers of the month, with seven victories (three in the 200 IM and four in the 400 IM) before she won the 200 breast at the Naples play-in match. Unfortunately for Wood, that was it for her ISL season as the New York Breakers did not advance to the playoffs.
So which of these swimmers were most impressive?
