Arsenal target ex-midfielder transfer after four years apart

This one has come out of nowhere, but multiple reports are circulating suggesting that Arsenal are weighing up a shock transfer move to bring back Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with it being over four years since he was sold to Liverpool for £35million.

Since taking the reigns, manager Mikel Arteta has been linked to a host of midfield names and has certainly reshaped it with the additions of Odegaard, Partey and Sambi Lokonga. However, the suggestion that the Spaniard wants to bring back a former fan favourite in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will raise eyebrows.

The 28-year-old has a Champions League and Premier League on his CV since moving to Anfield in 2017, but is so far down the pecking order this season that his future is now a source of major debate – injuries have blighted his time at the Reds, but the Englishman has shown, in patches, his undoubted talents.

A report via talkSPORT claims that Arsenal are, at this time, only looking at a six-month loan deal starting in January, but that would come with the option to sign permentantly should the move go well.

Whether Liverpool would fancy such a deal will almost certainly depend on their first pick midfield staying fit and available through to the new year, and if so, it may well be a case that Gunners fans get to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back in north London red.
