A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have shown their satisfaction after the club shared some of Emerson Royal’s latest match statistics.
The Brazilian right-back started against Aston Villa as Spurs managed to end a run of three consecutive Premier League losses with a 2-1 victory.
The game not only represented Emerson’s first league win with his new club, but it also saw him impress a selection of his team’s loyal supporters.
Will Emerson Royal succeed at Tottenham?
Yes
No
The official Tottenham Twitter account shared a graphic that showed the defender has 86 touches, four interceptions, and seven clearances throughout the game.
Consequently, many fans were ready to show their appreciation for his efforts.
Here’s what these Spurs fans had to say…
“Criminally underrated performance.”
“Baller.”
“Going to be huge for us.”
“Only watched the first hour of the game, but thought he looked really composed. Encouraging.”
“Strong performance from him yesterday. Now we want this every week.”
“This guy had a great game yesterday! Keep it up, @Emerson_Royal22.”
Emerson was a deadline day purchase for Spurs, who paid a reported £25.7m to sign him from La Liga giants Barcelona.
Having made his debut in the club’s 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace, played 90 minutes in the defeat against Chelsea and featured in the derby day humiliation at Arsenal, the Brazilian would have been relieved to get a first league win under his belt against Villa.
No doubt, he’ll be hoping this victory can send Spurs on a strong run of form when the international break ends and domestic football resumes in the top flight.
