4 October 2021 – Log leaders and current Women’s League champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies beat Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies 2-0 on Sunday, 3 October 2021, in the Hollywoodbets Super League to remain unbeaten in the championship.
Sunday’s encounter was one of the matches the defending champions played to catch up after falling behind due to international commitments.
The dominating performance against Celtic means Sundowns remains unbeaten in two seasons since the women professional league was formed and at this rate, will take some stopping.
They top the log with a healthy lead and still have four matches in hand over the chasing pack. Goals from Smidt and Morifi were enough to increase their goal and points tally.
Ma-Indies Ladies beat Richmond United 3-2 to move to 8th position on the log standings while Golden Ladies earned the much-needed 3 points against Tsunami Queens whom they beat 2-0 in Mahikeng on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sundowns will travel to Mahikeng to take on Golden Ladies on Wednesday, 6 October 2021 in another catch up match while Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies will host Coal City Wizards at Siwelele Park on the same day. The two matches will also be played at 15h00.
