TACOMA, WA – OL Reign midfielder Shirley Cruz has been called up to the Costa Rica Women’s National Team for the September FIFA international window for a pair of friendly matches.
The No. 36 ranked Costa Rica Women’s National Team play will play two matches during the FIFA international match window, both against the No. 59 ranked Panama. The first match is on Saturday, September 18 at 4:00 p.m. PT at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San José, Costa Rica and the second is on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m. PT, also to be played at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San José, Costa Rica.
Costa Rica last met Panama in January 2020, when Costa Rica came away with a 6-1 win. Cruz scored the third goal of the game in the 67th minute. The veteran midfielder has been a key part of the Costa Rica senior national team since 2002. Since then, she has made 94 appearances and scored 30 goals for the team. Most recently, she played 60 minutes and scored the opening goal in Costa Rica’s 4-1 win over Guatemala on June 15, 2021.
