Morteza Mehrzadselakjani was named the Most Valuable Player and Best Spiker of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, capping off a successful campaign that saw Iran win back-to-back gold medals.
The two-time Paralympian led all Iranians in scoring with a total of 80 points off 68 attacks, 11 blocks and a service ace throughout competition. Mehrzad had a team-high 28 points off 25 attacks in their 3-1 victory over RPC in their gold medal match.
Iran captain Davoud Alipourian joined Mehrzad in the dream team as the leading setter in the tournament, while bronze medallist Ermin Jusufovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was hailed Best Blocker.
Dominik Albrecht of Germany joined the group as Best Server, firing a total of 12 aces. Egypt libero Abdelnaby Abdellatif and China’s Li Lei complete the dream team as Best Libero and Best Receiver, respectively.
