PSV Eindhoven will be looking to overturn a Champions League play-off round first leg deficit against Benfica at the Philips Stadion on Tuesday evening (20:00 UK time).
Jorge Jesus’ men ran out narrow 2-1 winners in the Portuguese capital last week. Rafa Silva and Julian Weigl gave The Eagles a strong lead before Cody Gakpo struck what could turn out to be a valuable away goal.

PSV vs Benfica build-up & previous line-ups:
PSV suffered a first defeat of this campaign last Wednesday when they suffered a 2-1 loss to Benfica subsequently putting their Champions League dreams in peril. The club from Eindhoven last reached the competition proper three years ago when they finished bottom of a group featuring Barcelona, Tottenham and Inter Milan. Roger Schmidt’s men have looked imperious at the Philips Stadion having won both of their previous qualifier matches — against Galatasaray and Midtjylland — with an aggregate score of 8-1.
Tuesday’s showdown in Eindhoven will be Benfica’s second Champions League game on the road this season. In their previous outing they left Spartak Moscow with a hardfought 0-2 win. The former European champions last reached the group phase in 2019 and were dumped out of last season’s qualifiers by PAOK but that came in the third qualifying round. Across their previous seven Champions League away trips Benfica have suffered five defeats including to PSV’s domestic rivals Ajax in October 2018.

Player to watch: Noni Madueke (PSV)
The season may still be young but already there are several PSV stars who have greatly impressed observers. Among them is London-born forward Noni Madueke who across five previous Champions League qualification matches has registered two goals and created one more. The 19-year-old made a 45 minute cameo against Cambuur last weekend, in preparation for Benfica’s visit, but nevertheless found the net to score his second Eredivisie goal of this season.
