Celtic target Thomas Henry is reportedly keen on a move to Parkhead, but it’s another club that are “in pole position” to land the striker.

The 26-year-old is being sought as the ideal replacement for Odsonne Edouard, but his departure may need to be finalised before a move for Henry can be made.

In the meantime, Gent have emerged as the more likely suitors with a transfer fee already agreed with the Belgian side, claims the player’s agent.

The Leuven frontman is said to be wanting a move to Celtic as the race for his signature heats up.

But Ange Postecoglou ‘s side will need to agree a fee quickly as Gent aim to keep Henry in Belgium.

The striker’s UK representative Paul Tait told Football Insider : “Thomas’ preference is to join Celtic if they can agree a fee with Leuven.

“Gent have agreed a fee with Leuven and they are in pole position to land Thomas.”

Gent are in need of a replacement for Roman Yaremchuk who moved to Benfica earlier this summer.

Henry is seen as an ideal substitute, having smashed in 41 goals in 71 league games for his current side.

A tall and imposing striker, he’s seen as the penalty box threat who could replace Edouard at Celtic Park.

It’s believed that Leuven are looking for around £7million to sell their star man.
