Borja Garcés scored for Atlético Madrid against Wolfsburg in Germany on Saturday just six minutes after coming on as a second half substitute.
The striker spent half of last season on loan at Segunda División side Fuenlabrada, which has helped him grow and develop, scoring seven goals along the way. His current situation is still to be clarified. Atlético boss Diego Simeone has already expressed his intention to sign a striker for the first team, so there are not going to be many options in the first-team squad for the 21-year-old.
A loan move would be the most likely option at this stage, however, he has to sit down with Atlético first. His contract expires in June 2022.
There is no shortage of candidates. Cádiz, Rayo Vallecano and Levante are all interested, according to AS. For the time being, Simeone has opted for his son Giuliano as the starting forward in the club’s three pre-season games.
