Said Benrahma scored a stunning goal for West Ham United against his former club Brentford in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The Algeria winger capitalised on an error from the Brentford defence as they tried to play out from the back. Mark Noble laid the ball off to him and from the left side of the pitch he stepped away from one player to unleash a 25-yard rocket past goalkeeper Patrik Gunnarsson.
The goal, which was all that separated the two sides, was naturally celebrated by the travelling Hammers faithful.
But the Brentford faithful set aside any potential ill-feeling towards their former hero to marvel at his quality, applauding the goal after it flew in.
Benrahma has had a slow start to life since swapping the Bees for West Ham last summer.
He played 36 times for the Hammers in all competitions and scored three goals and contributed seven assists last season.
Benrahma was another product of the incredible scouting line at Brentford who have notoriously found several players for low value and sold them for far higher amounts in the following seasons.
He initially arrived from Nice in 2018 for a fee of around £2.7 million, before joining West Ham on loan and later making his move permanent for £20m.
West Ham are set for an extremely exciting season with a Europa League campaign on the horizon.
They have been busy in the transfer window, too, having recently signed PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on a season-long loan.
Deals for Kurt Zouma are reportedly underway and they are also believed to be interested in Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite.
