Filip Helander is encouraging stiff competition for places at Rangers as a key component for more success at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard’s men begin the defence of their Scottish Premiership crown at home to Livingston tomorrow.
And the Swedish defender is relishing the prospect of helping his side kick on this season with more silverware.
He said: “I try not to set too many personal goals, I just focus on trying to win the league again and hopefully get some more successful nights in Europe.

“You don’t get too long a break after the Euros but you don’t have to run quite as much as the boys who have been here since the start!
“Now though it all starts and we all have to be ready.”
The 28-year-old helped Rangers hold an impressive clean sheet record last season with his side only conceding 13 league goals all season.
He’s now urging his teammates to keep fighting for places in the starting 11.
Helander added: “We take a lot of pride in clean sheets, it is all about the way we play as a team – all working together with a great structure starting from the strikers. We can’t relax and we have to do it again and even improve further.
“It is going to be fantastic to see the fans, we have all been looking forward to it for so long. Even in the friendlies, it felt strange we couldn’t talk to each other out on the pitch.
“If you don’t want competition for places, you can go and play for an inferior club. We all want to be here and we all want to play. All of us here enjoy that.”
