Fodé Ballo-Touré will act as the alternative for Theo Hernández, as Milan have a total deal to sign him.
Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara keep working on reinforcing the squad and giving coach Pioli more depth and quality.
Theo Hernández is the obvious starter for the left-back position and he will maintain this role also in the 2021/22 season (despite interest from clubs like PSG). However, an alternative for the Frenchman was needed and so Milan moved to get Fodé Ballo-Touré from Monaco.
Negotiations have been going on for a couple weeks, and last night Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia reported that the deal is now complete. The agreement is for €4m plus €0.5m bonuses which are related to Champions League qualification and the number of games the player will play next year.
The Senegalese player, who played 24 Ligue 1 games for Monaco last season (most of them off the bench), is expected in Milano on Saturday. He would then have his medical check-ups and sign the contract at Casa Milan. The 24-year-old grew up at Paris Saint-Germain and then moved to Lille and Monaco. He’s coming to be the second-choice at Milan, the same role he had at Monaco.
Ballo-Touré would be the third “new” signing of Milan after Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud. The eyes of the Milan scouts seem to be in France.
