Waynedale’s Ean Miller fired a 73 in the final round of the Gavin Swartzentruber Junior Golf Series to clinch a first-place finish overall in the series’ top division, narrowly edging out West Holmes’ Hunter Ellis.
Ellis finished third during this week’s round, but finished second over the course of the six rounds of the series, securing 34 points. Miller secured 36 points to finish first. Waynedale’s Deegan Bee finished third overall with 31.5 points.
Triway’s Tyler Snyder finished as the Series’ Division II (grades 9-10) champion, earning 46 points over the course of six weeks. Snyder finished second during Tuesday’s final round, carding an 87 to finish behind Massillon’s Trey Lautenschleger, who earned a fourth-place finish in the final standings. Lautenschleger did not play every round of the Series. Wooster’s Sammy Fleming finished second overall in the Series and Waynedale’s Landon Gatti placed third overall.
Massillon’s Delaney Maag placed first overall in the Girls Division and Northwestern’s Kylie Purdy earned a runner-up finish overall. Purdy dominated the Girls Division in Tuesday’s final round, carding a 82 to win by 19 strokes.
In Division III (grades 7-8), Waynedale’s Jordan Miller dominated the whole Series, winning for another time Tuesday to earn the first overall finish.
