Liverpool are still ‘keeping tabs’ on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma as the club consider signing a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are understood to be considering a host of options following the departure of Wijnaldum this summer, with the Netherlands international having signed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer at the expiry of his Liverpool contract.
Bissouma has been linked with a move to Merseyside with a number of Premier League clubs having tracked his progress of late, and the Liverpool Echo are reporting that the Reds are ‘keeping tabs’ on the Mali international.
However, the signing of a midfielder is not understood to be a priority at Liverpool this summer despite Wijnaldum’s exit, with the emergence of Curtis Jones and signing of Thiago Alcantara last summer having compensated for the losses of the Dutchman and Adam Lallana over the past two campaigns.
Doubts remain over the futures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita and a move for a midfielder could be accelerated should either player decide on an Anfield exit.
Renato Sanches and John McGinn have been linked as potential additions though both would prove expensive, whilst moves for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus and Porto’s Octavio have also been mooted.
Liverpool’s summer recruitment began with the signing of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, whilst the Reds have also been linked with signing a new forward as the club look to bounce back from a disappointing title defence.
