Swallows FC have today signed S’fiso Hlanti, Bafana Bafana’s starting left back at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, on a free transfer. The 30 year old had been training with Kaizer Chiefs and looks likely to have signed for Amakhosi and now joined Swallows “on loan”.
With Chiefs’ transfer ban in place for two more transfer windows, Hlanti can only join them on 1 July 2021. Therefore, he has joined Swallows for the season ahead of a move to Chiefs when their ban is over.
Whilst an excellent addition for Swallows, Hlanti is the third left back they have signed in this transfer window after Keagan Ritchie joined on a free after his release by Bidvest Wits/TTM, whilst Phetso Maphanga arrived after Chippa United released him.
The latter is yet to appear for the club, whilst Ritchie has started all games so far as an inverted fullback. He will be hoping he is not set to play second fiddle to Hlanti after taking up that role in recent seasons at Bidvest Wits.
Hlanti becomes the 21st signing made by Swallows FC in this transfer window! Their deals in full are as follows:
In – Ruzaigh Gamildien (Chippa United), Musa Nyatama (Highlands Park), Moeketsi Makhanya (JDR Stars), Thabo Mosadi (Ajax Cape Town), Wandisile Letlabika (Bloemfontein Celtic), Daniel Gozar (Free State Stars), Kagiso Malinga (SuperSport United), Joseph Mhlongo (Black Leopards), Thabo Matlaba (Black Leopards), Given Thibedi (Kaizer Chiefs, loan), Ayanda Rorwana (Kaizer Chiefs, loan), Sizwe Twala (Kaizer Chiefs, loan), Itumeleng Shopane (Kaizer Chiefs, loan), Keagan Ritchie (Bidvest Wits), Sammy Seabi (Mamelodi Sundowns, loan), Kamohelo Mahlatsi (SuperSport United), Thela Ngobeni (Highlands Park), Phetso Maphanga (Swallows FC), Njabulo Ngcobo (Uthongathi FC), Fawaaz Basadien (Steenburg United), S’fiso Hlanti (Kaizer Chiefs, loan)
