FC Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City star Sergio Aguero. The veteran Argentinian has been added to a shortlist by presidential candidate Joan Laporta, reports from England and Spain have claimed. Aguero will be available on a free transfer this summer following the expiry of his contract at the Etihad Stadium. The Daily Mail suggests that Aguero and his agent have already been approached.
Laporta is currently running to become the new president of Barcelona for a second spell. The Spanish lawyer had been in charge of the club in the early 2000’s, leading the club to a Champions League victory and multiple league titles. Laporta has also been considered as the key figure in Barcelona’s successful spell which earned them multiple trophies.
And now Laporta wants to make Aguero one of his marquee signings if he wins the elections. The striker has a very good relationship with Lionel Messi and Laporta hopes to convince Messi to stay at the Nou Camp by signing Aguero. The Man City ace has been linked with a return to Argentina for months, but he hasn’t made any comments or decisions on his short-term future.
