2 courses at CCNC highly rated in N.C. Golf Panel rankings

Both the Dogwood and Cardinal courses at The Country Club of North Carolina are in the top 20 of the 2021 North Carolina Golf Panel course rankings released Thursday.

The Dogwood Course holds third place, and the Cardinal Course is 16th in the list, which is recognized as the most authoritative statewide source of golf course rankings in a state that arguably has some of the nation’s best courses. In the 2020 rankings, the Dogwood Course was #5 in North Carolina and the Cardinal Course was #17.

“The Country Club of North Carolina is extremely proud of the quality of the architecture, skill challenges and conditioning of the Dogwood and Cardinal courses,” said CCNC President Tom Beddow. “The North Carolina Golf Panel rankings add convincing evidence to what we have believed for many years and we are grateful for their generous gradings.”

In July, 264 of the world’s best junior will test their skills as CCNC hosts the 73rd U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Established in 1948 by the United States Golf Association, the Junior Amateur is open to amateur golfers who have not reached their 19th birthday by the conclusion of that year’s championship and who have a Handicap Index® not exceeding 4.4. It is one of 14 championships conducted annually by the USGA. Among the notable champions are Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Johnny Miller, and David Duval. The winner of the U.S. Junior Amateur receives a full exemption from qualifying for the 2022 U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.
