Browns fans will have a familiar sight if they tune in to the Fan Controlled Football league, because they’ll be seeing Johnny Manziel throw passes to Josh Gordon.
The former Heisman winner has already been playing in the new footbal league, but it appears as if Gordon will be joining him. Earlier this week, Manziel posted on social media asking fans if they’d like to see the two reunited.
A few days later, and it became a reality, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Former veteran NFL WR Josh Gordon will be returning to play football for the @fcfzappers of the @fcflio, per team owner @BobMenery; who also signed Johnny Manziel to the league.

MORE: Everything to know about Fan Controlled Football league
The Fan Controlled Football league plays every Saturday, so it’s unlikely we see Gordon play right away. The FCF is also playing in a bubble, so there are likely health protocols restricting him from playing right away. The other wrinkle is that Manziel will also be inactive this week after undergoing dental surgery.
But we should see Manziel and Gordon play together next Saturday (March 6). For those who haven’t been watching the new football league, you’re in for a treat. The league is exactly what it sounds like: the fans control nearly every aspect of the league.
The fans call the plays, determine the rules and even vote on what pants the head coach is going to be wearing.
Gordon has had an on-and-off relationship with the NFL as he’s battled with substance abuse problems. He last played in 2019 for the Patriots and Seahawks. He was suspended for all of 2015, 2016 and 2020. He appeared to be ready to make an appearance late in the season, but then broke the terms of his conditional reinstatement. He was once again suspended indefinitely by the NFL on January 15, 2021.
Since he’s ineligible to play in the NFL, it makes sense why he wants to showcase his talents in the FCF. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs in the new footbal league.
