Australian surfing great Mick Fanning has been lauded for helping flood victims in New South Wales, enabling a pharmacist to open up shop.
Nine reports Skye Swift asked for help from anyone who could provide a ride in Murwillumbah, in northern NSW, so she could open her pharmacy so that residents could get their medication.
Coming to her rescue was 40-year-old triple world champion Fanning, who used his jet ski to help get her to work.

“She put her challenge to the locals, who enthusiastically responded,” Swift’s brother Anthony Piggott told Nine.
“In a collective effort she arrived at her pharmacy with the assistance of two men in a tinny, several 4WDs and also on the back of world champion Mick Fanning’s jet ski.
“That’s community spirit for you.”
Fanning was praised for his efforts with radio host Jim Wilson tweeting: “How about mighty Mick, that’s the Aussie spirit right there.”
Later in the day Swift posted a message to Facebook letting residents know the pharmacy was open.
“Open til 5pm for urgent supplies,” she said.
“There may be a wait so thanks for your patience.
“If your scripts are at another pharmacy, that’s no problem. We can help.”
At least nine people have died in the floods across northern NSW and southern Queensland, described as a once-in-500-years weather event.
