CHL qualifications: Only one open question

The last four matches of the Champions League Qualifications will be played tomorrow.

The return matches of the playoffs ( 3rd qualification round) are scheduled for October 20.

After the first leg, there are not many open questions.

2021/22 Champions League, Playoffs, 2nd leg

OSC Budapest (Hungary) – Szolnok (Hungary) at 19:00 – first leg 15:6

Mladost Zagreb (Croatia) – Jadran Split (Croatia) at 20:00 – first leg: 7:14

Brescia (Italy) – Barcelona (Spain) at 20:00 – first leg: 17:13

Crvena Zvezda (Serbia) – Savona (Italy) at 20:00 – first leg: 9:8

(all times  – CET)

OSC defeated Szolnok surprisingly convincing (15:6) in the first match of the all-Hungarian clash and made a big step towards the Main Round. Szolnok will probably continue its European season in LEN Euro Cup and will try to defend the trophy in this competition.

As expected, Jadran Split recorded a big victory over Mladost in the Croatian derby (14:7). Therefore, it has no enormous pressure before the match in Zagreb. Only a big surprise can save Mladost.

Brescia achieved a solid 4-goal victory (14:10) against Barcelona on Saturday. Tomorrow, the Italians and the Spaniards will face off in Brescia. The Italian champion is a big favorite in the second match. The first win put Brescia on the right track towards earning a CHL berth.

Everything is still open in an encounter between Savona and Crvena Zvezda. Four days ago, Crvena Zvezda achieved a one-goal victory in Savona (9:8). However, that game proved that these teams were of similar quality. Crvena Zvezda has a minimal advantage, and it plays at home, but Savona isn’t out of the race for the Main Round. Anything can happen in Belgrade.
