Argentina’s Arreche receives four-year ban for match-fixing

BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) — Argentina’s Nicolas Arreche has been banned from tennis for four years and fined 8,000 U.S. dollars for match-fixing, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said on Thursday.

In a statement, the ITIA said the 27-year-old breached the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) in matches played between 2017 and 2019.

“Mr Arreche was found to have contrived or attempted to contrive the outcome of tennis matches and failed to report corrupt approaches to the ITIA,” it said.

Arreche, who has a career-high ranking of 567, was suspended on a provisional basis last April.

London-based ITIA said the ban would run until April 23, 2025.
