Liam Pitchford went out in the last 32 of the WTT Star Contender European Summer Series in Budapest at the hands of German maestro Timo Boll.
Pitchford was unable to apply any sustained pressure to Boll, who ran out winner in three straight (3, 7, 7) and next faces Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic in the round of 16.
Pitchford & Paul Drinkhall still have a doubles quarter-final to look forward to and now know they will face South Korea’s Cho Seungmin & An Jaehyun at 3.10pm UK time on Friday. Watch on the WTT YouTube channel.
